Year 6K

FREE CHIPPY DINNER FOR YEAR 6 THIS FRIDAY!

Friday 17th May 2019

end of SATs Week 2019

1 week to go!

The SATs are over and we celebrated in ‘Pensby Style’ with a morning a water games! We got a little bit wet (mainly due to Mr Davies constantly throwing buckets of water over us) and had great fun despite the dim weather. In the afternoon we played outside and had some party food (and lovely donuts thanks to Allie).

Barclays

Unfortunately we have had to cancel our trip to Barclays next week. It isn’t something that we did lightly, a lot of thought has had to go into making the decision and it was done in the best interests of our families. There is much demand on Year 6 parents at the moment, with Hoodies, SATs Breakfasts and Oaklands  to pay for, we didn’t want to add to the financial strain of this half term. Barclays have already visited us in school in the Autumn Term and we already have three trips planned for next half term – so we can look forward to those instead.

Charity Day – Own Clothes Day

Friday 24th May is Charity Day. Your child will have informed you of their game and what they need… everything should be brought into school on Wednesday 22nd May! This year looks to be another fun and exciting day!

As a special treat for Year 6, we are taking them to St Michael’s church for lunch – stopping at Pensby Fish Bar on the way for some chip butties! This is FREE as a Thank You to the children in Year 6 for raising money for charity. Your child will not need a packed/school lunch that day. Mr Putman is organising some drinks and games for us to play in the afternoon. Another Fantastic Friday to look forward to!

If your child does not want ‘chippy chips’ for dinner on Friday then they will need to bring a packed lunch with them.

Charity Day 2019

Here we are proudly sporting our new t-shirts after our spelling test today. We then spent the afternoon with Commando Joe, preparing for Friday’s epic water party. Some of us got ‘slightly wetter’ than we’d hoped, but luckily the sun was shining so we dried off pretty quickly.

Mrs Jones and Miss Burns got a little too trigger happy with the water guns!

It was getting too hot so we headed inside for a game of dodgeball. What a fantastic day.

Summer Term 1st Half, Week 4

(2 weeks to go)

SATs and Charity Day

We worked in mall groups to prepare a presentation for each class about our tests next week and Charity Day. Each group presented their poster from Nursery to Year 5, thanking them for their patience this half term and asking that they stay quiet for just one more week. We also spoke about Charity Day, which is two weeks from today, and told them about the many exciting and fun games we have planned. Please note: Year 6 DO NOT pay online for Charity Day, your contribution is through the prizes you need to purchase for the games.

SATs Tests 2019

Test Dates 2019

The 2019 Key Stage 2 tests will take place from 13th -16th May. There will be no authorised absences for this week.

  • Monday 13th: English Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling
  • Tuesday 14th: English Reading
  • Wednesday 15th: Arithmetic – Paper 1 Mathematical Reasoning – Paper 2

SATs Breakfast

During each day of the test week (including Friday), ‘Bacon or Sausage Butties’ will be available from 8:15 in the school Hall. They cost £1.50 per day (£7.50 for the week) and are accompanied by cereals, toast and a drink of either: water, tea or juice. If you wish for your child to have breakfast each morning a payment of £7.50 is to be made via Tucasi by 9am on Friday 10th May. If your child does not want a sausage or bacon butty they can still join us for some toast or have breakfast at home then join us for some socialising and games.

SATs Party

Own Clothes Day is on Friday 17th May. We would like to have a party to celebrate the end of the test week and let off some steam! This will involve party games, activities and some refreshments. The children can come into school wearing their own clothes and will need to bring in a complete change of clothes (including a change of footwear and underwear) and a towel for our party games (in case they get wet – it has been known to happen). Actually, they most-definitely will get completely soaked! In the afternoon we will have some light snacks (crisps, biscuits) and enjoy the end of the week together.

Lucky Mascots & T-Shirts

We do encourage the children to bring in a lucky mascot to keep with them during the tests. Teddy bears are a firm favourite, but please ensure these are of a sensible size (and don’t have a calculator in them)!

We are hoping to provide every child with a T-Shirt showing a positive and encouraging message to wear during the tests, we will update you on this as soon as we have more information. Please keep checking the class page of the school website.

Thank you,

Mr Klausen
