Welcome to our science curriculum. At Pensby Primary School, our science curriculum inspires pupils to be curious, confident learners who can think and work scientifically to understand the world around them.

From EYFS to Year 6, carefully sequenced enquiry questions give learning a clear purpose and help pupils make meaningful connections across all aspects of the science curriculum. Through a balance of explicit teaching and enquiry-based learning, children progressively develop secure scientific knowledge and vocabulary, alongside practical investigative skills.

Each year group has clearly defined endpoints aligned with its overarching enquiry question. These guide teaching and assessment, ensuring consistency and progression while helping every pupil understand what they are learning and why.

We aim to nurture young scientists who ask thoughtful questions, explore ideas and take ownership of their learning.
