Rationale

At Pensby Primary, we believe that high-quality Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education, including Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE), plays a vital role in preparing children for life in modern Britain. We use the 1decision programme because it provides a carefully sequenced curriculum that enables pupils to build knowledge, understanding and essential life skills progressively throughout their time with us.

The 1decision curriculum ensures that learning is age-appropriate and follows a clear progression, allowing children to develop the confidence, resilience and decision-making skills needed to make informed, responsible and safe choices. Through engaging and inclusive lessons, pupils explore a wide range of topics that support their personal development, emotional wellbeing and understanding of healthy relationships.

The programme comprehensively covers the statutory requirements for RSHE while also embedding PSHE, British Values, protected characteristics and citizenship. This helps pupils to develop respect for themselves and others, appreciate diversity, understand their rights and responsibilities and become active, responsible members of their communities.

By following the 1decision programme, we ensure that every child receives a consistent, high-quality PSHE and RSHE education that prepares them not only for a successful transition to secondary school but also for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
