Curriculum Overview

At Pensby Primary School, our curriculum has been carefully designed to be ambitious, inclusive and accessible for all children. We are committed to providing a broad, balanced and knowledge-rich curriculum that builds strong foundations for future learning while nurturing curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum is structured to ensure that knowledge and skills are taught progressively, enabling children to build upon prior learning and develop a deep understanding of each subject over time. Subject leaders have carefully mapped the progression of knowledge and skills across all year groups, ensuring that new learning is connected to what pupils already know and can do. This sequential approach helps children to retain key knowledge, make meaningful connections and develop increasing confidence and independence as learners.

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive and responsive to the needs of all learners, providing appropriate support and challenge so that every pupil can access, engage with and achieve within the curriculum.

Whilst each subject retains its own unique knowledge, skills and disciplinary thinking, meaningful links are made across the curriculum where appropriate. These connections help children to deepen their understanding of concepts while maintaining the integrity and rigour of individual subjects.
