Mental Health & Well-being
Our overarching Curriculum Intent Statement is;
‘To encourage curiosity and creativity alongside knowledge and understanding so that our pupils move forward in life, with confidence and resilience, as valuable members of the local community and the wider world’.
Wirral Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) regularly produces a newsletter. This is their regular update from the local team supporting Wirral schools and colleges with all things mental wellbeing.
This newsletter is shared with our young people, families and wider networks through our bi-weekly newsletters.
My name is Mrs Gill and I am Pensby Primary School’s Mental Health Lead.
At Pensby Primary School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and well being of all our children and staff.
My role is to support the ongoing development of a whole school approach in supporting mental well being. I work closely with staff and families to recognise the signs and symptoms of any mental health needs in pupils and provide appropriate support.
During the school day I meet up with children to chat, listen and give support and encouragement to help them manage and improve their mental health and emotional well being through resources and activities. I work with the class teachers so we can provide the best possible support for the children.
We have great links with our local CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) team. They are regular visitors in our school and give great support to our school community. We have hosted workshops for parents run by CAMHS counsellors which proved helpful and they are running Mind and Mood sessions weekly with the children.
Below is a list of links to various organisations that provide advice and support for children and their families.
