Curriculum Overview
Pensby Primary’s curriculum has been carefully designed to meet the needs of all our children. Our broad and balanced curriculum nurtures curiosity, builds strong foundational skills, and prepares our children for future success.
Each lesson is designed to build upon existing knowledge, allowing children to develop confidence and a deep understanding in all subjects. Progression of skills and knowledge in each subject is carefully mapped out by experienced subject leaders so that lessons check prior and existing knowledge before progressing.
We aim to encourage life-long learning through our teaching and support learning experiences outside of the classroom that create memorable moments and foster interests in all our children.
Our curriculum is inclusive and adapts to meet the needs of our children and we use research and evidence-based practice where possible to improve standards in teaching and learning across the whole curriculum.
Our curriculum is regularly reviewed and adapted to ensure it remains relevant, effective, and aligned with the latest educational research. Through this approach, we equip our children with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in a fast-paced world.
Links between subjects are made when relevant and appropriate, and this ensures that the integrity of each subject is maintained but also carefully balanced to ensure that we also provide opportunities for creative projects as well.
